Question for you Mechanics, Is a Allison 1000 heavy duty enough to work in a Motorhome. I see most upgrades here are 2000's or 3060's. I have found one that was behind a 5.9 cummins truck and was wondering would it work in my Barth. thanks 1993 Breakaway Front Entry Cummins 6BTA5.9 190HP Allison AT 542 Spartan Chassis Model No. EC 2242 9207 3810 30BS-11B

Contact Allison and ask them. There should be a spec for the torque, horsepower, and weight that the tranny can handle.

Even though I am late to answer, the simple answer go for it. Might have to beef up the 1000 a bit depending on how many ponies you end up with. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance

Looked up the specs and they are the same for all 1000/2000 transmissions. Max HP is 325hp and 550lb-ft of torque. 620lb-ft with torque limiting and 850 is max turbine torque. ECM (engine control module)equipped engines limit the torque by shutting down the engine during a shift. You will be using a TPS (throttle position sensor). You will need the TCM (transmission control module) and all the cabling. And last you need the parking brake. If you need more help contract me. I've been there and done it. Thanks for the replys, from I've researched looks like the 1000 has some weak clutch packs on the earlier models, don't think my 190hp cummins would hurt it. just a lot off parts to install after the transmission swap. 1993 Breakaway Front Entry Cummins 6BTA5.9 190HP Allison AT 542 Spartan Chassis Model No. EC 2242 9207 3810 30BS-11B
