My coach has a "knock"or "clunk" upon hitting bumps in the right front wheel well. It has been diagnosed as bad spring pins. They said if we were doing these we should do the king pins at the same time. Would either spring pins or king pins cause any play in the steering? Thanks Wayne

This was part of the problem that was corrected when I had the front end rebuilt. Well worth the cost when you drive. What a pleasure........... Former owner of "THE TOY" 1988 Barth Regal SE 33' Tag 1992 Barth Breakaway 32' 2005 Coachmen Mirada 32' DS

So far I've replaced the drag link, the miter box and the steering gear. Big improvement but there still is a little play. Whats'up with spartan my coach only has 80000 miles and these parts were trashed.

You probably have the same OEM teflon-coated king pins that I had. They were replaced with steel ones several years ago. I also had the spring bushings replaced early on. One of the problems my mechanic found shortly before my Barth trip to CA and back was loose bolts holding the steering gear to the frame.
