I am trying to locate a radiator for a 1978 P-30 454 Chevy chassis. I can't seem to come across one. Does anyone know where to find one or have a part number. This particular radiator doesn't have the cap on the radiator. It has a nipple on the front that connects to a short hose that goes to the cap adapter. 1978 Barth 27' 454 Chevy P-30 | |||

I would be very careful about buying a radiator or even a core. Much of either comes from cheap labor countries, and is of poor metallurgy and inconsistant build quality. R&R'ing a Barth radiator is no fun, so you only want to do it once. I have done mine twice. Having a company like US build you a new one is a good way to go. I have used their Desert Coolers for decades. Or have a good radiator shop you know and trust recore yours. I go to a radiator shop where the third generation runs it and the employees are long-term and knowledgable, not just quick-fix artists. There is a possible advantage to having yours rebuilt. Some replacement radiators do not have the engine oil heat exchanger in the right hand tank. This is good and bad. It is bad because you have to engineer a new oil cooler set up. It is good because you have to engineer a new oil cooler set up. Ha Ha. Chances are, you will be able to come up with a better set up than Chevrolet did. Details on request. Unless you drive without a toad and avoid mountains, I would advise all motor home owners to install an oil temp indicator. It is quite easy to drill and tap the drain plug to 1/8 NPT and install a JC Whitney sender and indicator. Even temporarily to get a reading. Or just stick a thermistor down the dipstick hole.
