Do I need soft start when I have 50 amp Honda lpn generator with 50 amp Hound Dog surge protector hard wired in my Barth?

Steve VWI am not personally familiar with the 50A generator, it would seem more than adequate for starting an AC. Most of the ACs start at 15-20 amps and run around 13-15 amps.
50 amps should be plenty to run 2 ACs as long as the generator is at full power.

The soft start is an interesting animal. It will quiet the start down or at least did mine. More so when I’m running the heat pump when cold really would thunk when the compressor would kickin.
If both airs started at the same time mooch docking (120 Volt 20 Amp) it would kick the breaker. I only have one in the front air but will install another in the rear. For reasons above.
Don’t know if that helped you. Just my observations.

Harold,Cat&SamWe absolutely love the soft starts . You can't feel or hear the compressor kick in . With that said , a 50 amp generator can start a properly working air conditioner without any problem . It should run two units .
