Wow, fuel solenoid
Got a big sticker shock today! Went to Cummins to get a spare solenoid for the trip and found the price is $411.00 for the new solenoid and linkage kit, and that is after my 10% discount!

Seems like Cummins has re-designed the fuel shut off solenoid system and in order to use the new solenoid you must first buy the complete kit. Even if I were to do my own linkage changes, the new solenoid price is $260.

I didn't buy one. I came home and made a lever/cable and attachment so that if my solenoid failed, I can still reach in and pull the solenoid on. Typically when a solenoid fails, it will not pull hard enough to activate the pump, but if it is helped once it is fully engaged, it will stay that way until power is shut off.

I remember 5-6 years ago the price for the solenoid was less than $100.

You could try truck or farm implement salvage yards.

Thousands of Cummins 5.9B engines are used in agriculture and they are used for decades. So check with your friendly Case/IH dealer. They will probably have your part.
