My backup camera went out during our last trip during a driving rainstorm. I quickly learned how uneasy I am when towing a car that I can't see behind me. Once home I checked the Forum for info. on how to approach repairing or replacing the camera or monitor. As usual there were some good ideas presented and a friend and I tackled the problem this past weekend. We first took the camera apart since I feared that water intrusion had fried the camera electronics. It was clean and dry inside. I looked for the access panel members refer to, to find the cable connector for the camera. We could find no access panel on the Breakaway. I then pulled the grommet on the exterior and easily pulled the camera cable, connector and a foot of cable out so we could disconnect the cable. Next we removed the Sony monitor by removing two bolts on either side of the monitor housing and prepared to check the cable for continuity. On a whim I switched the camera input to the second channel on the rear of the monitor, plugged the camera in again at the rear and wonder of wonders, the system was back on line. Apparently the one channel input on the monitor failed (after only 17 years)so if I can get 17 years out of the second channel I'll be happy. Thanks to all for documenting your fixes. Stu Allen

Stu, I went thru the same thing. Check to make sure you can use the camera when in reverse, even if you have to manually turn the monitor on. On our coach, the camera comes on automatically in reverse and goes to the first channel, which was blank. I cleaned the terminal on the back of the monitor and plugged it back into the first channel and the system has been working properly ever since. 9303 3855 33BS 1B Bruce & Kathleen 1993 33' Front Entrance Breakaway 230HP Cummins 5.9, Allison 6 speed, Spartan Chassis, Nicely Optioned
