Does anyone know if all MCI chassis came with Detroit engines? Were they 8.2's only, or did some have 6V92? Prior to about 1990, did all Gillig chassis have Cat engines? Some later ones also had Cummins. From what I have gathered, if an early Regency has a cat engine (typically a 3208), then it has a Gillig chassis. --If it has a detroit engine it is a MCI. Other than the MCI's independent front suspension, was one chassis considered better than the other? Thanks

I meant MCC (not MCI). | |||

From what I have read all MCCs had the Detroit 8.2. Mine is the 8.2.

Just to clarify, I am referring to the MCC coach itself being powered by the Detroit 8.2; not implying anything about what powered the Barth coaches built on the MCC chassis.

I don't know the answer but I have a Detroit 6V92 Silver series in my 1991 Barth with a Gillig breakaway chassis. It's a pleasure to drive and has plenty of power. 365hp and 1250 tq

From what I have read all Regency chassis had the Detroit 8.2 and Allison 4 speed.This includes MCC's and mid 80"s Regency bodied coaches on Regency chassis. There were also some Regal bodied coaches built on the Regency chassis called Regal SE's. Some time around 1987 Barth discontinued the Regency Chassis and stated using Gillig for the Regency and Spartain chassis in their Regal SE. As always with Barth being custom built coaches there might be exception to this. 1986 31' Regal -1976 Class C 454/T400 P30 -350/T400 G30 twin cntr beds - 21' rear bath
