6/12 Formally known as "Humbojb" |
I've ordered new Bilsteins for the front of the '85 P32 Regal 28'er. Bilstein said to be certain that the upper shock bolt was correctly torqued. According to my manual, it's supposed to be 140 ft lbs. That sounds pretty high to me. Can someone confirm that? The lower ones are 59# ?? Thanks Jim

I think mine came with bigger heavy duty mounting studs for the top mount. I dont remember tightening them that tight. They have been on four years with no problems. Neil.

Neil, I remember somebody saying something about bigger mounting studs but can't recall if it was for P32 shocks or something else. Hope someone else reading this has a better memory than I do Jim

Might you be referring to the rear mounts of older P-30/32's?....There is a range of years that required a field weld-up reinforcement of the rear mounts 'cause Bilsteins were snapping them off. When I had them installed in '04, the shipping box contained a service bulletin, with sketches, showing what needed to be done......plus, the installer seemed familiar with the issue. I think billh has also posted it here in the past. Bilsteins were one of my better upgrades. Combined with the Firestone airbag install on the rear, things feel under control back there......
