I want to replace the curtain track that runs around the wind shield. The track that is on there now is fine, but the sliders that snap into the curtain are bad and because of the size of the track I can't find that size anywhere. I've tried CW and every RV supply place close to Seattle. The problem with the new track is that it needs to be bent around a very sharp curve. I thought that I might be able to heat it up and that would help. Have any of you ever done that? Dennis

Dennis, over the years I've used a variety of curtain tracks in boats & RVs, and found the metal "I" beam to be to most versatile and longest lasting. That's what's on the windshield of our Regal SE that you looked at a few weeks ago in Sequim. It takes the bend around the windshield corners nicely.

I haven't bought any for a long time, and I imagine it's pricey, but it's versatile and long lasting, as well as passing the curtain back and forth better than others I've used.

It's a standard RV/Marine item, and should be readily available.

Aluminum is best bent cold. There is a very small range from soft to melted.

I am going to agree with Bill H here, you stand a good chance of either annealing alumninum (making it permanently too soft) or melting it altogether.

Bend it cold, and take our your present tracks, and lay them out in the driveway to use as a guide. Don't bend ON them, but use them as an example of how much to bend, and where.

You can get it pretty close outside, then bend to fit inside.
