Cruise Control
Recently I replaced the vacuum controlled cruise with a Universal Electronic Cruise Control (Rostra Precision Controls 800-782-3379) This was a fairly simple task performed while the wife was at the Houston Galleria shoppimg and I was sitting in the RV hoping the transients wouldn't want to use my bathroom. The installation consisted of a Universal Electronic Cruise control kit #250-1223, A Vehicle Speed Sensor kit (VSS)250-4153 and a dash mounted switch (RP-250-3593). These products were purchased from Brandon Distributing 877-402-3944. The VSS is installed between the transmission and existing speedometer cable. The control switch was mounted on the dash next to the cigar lighter and the control module was mounted under the dog house. In my experience this system has worked very well in maintaining speed on everything except steep prolonged hills. However, I think it would hold my RV at 65 MPH on any hill had I not been towing my Jeep. Installation Manual can be found at http://www.rostra.com/pdf/form2784.pdf

Please tell me more about your location for mounting the module. It shouldn't be within 10 inches of the ignition according to the instructions. That rules out the back of the doghouse area. Moving further to the sides essentially puts the module in the wheel wells. Going forward in the engine compartment sure isn't easy access for mounting.

thanks,
Matt
