I keep a few basics in the Barth (cooking oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, flour, etc.). But I can be on the road in a few hours if needed. I have a checklist that spans 5 days (although it can be compressed to 2 if needed). In addition to the preflight checks on the coach, the list includes everything needed. This list is subdivided into sections based on where the stuff comes from plus last minute: Kitchen Upstairs Downstairs Last-minute What really helps are the totes I use to load the coach; these stay out on the floor of the living room and bedroom (being single means I don't have to cope with someone who thinks this is unsightly), and when I think of something needed, it goes into the totes rather than writing it down and getting it later. This is where the clean linens and other laundry goes, as well as clothing. Food stocks go straight into the totes from the shopping bags. I flash up the reefer on D-3, and stock it with mostly last-minute shopping - stop the car at the coach, load directly. I always carry about 7 days' worth of food for the dogs and me; there's always the chance I'll have a breakdown and be stuck at a repair facility for days. Our RV is an integral part of our pantry, closet, & tool storage system for our house. When we moved from a large house to the small one in Florida, we arranged the property so the coach is easily accessible and powered when parked. When we are ready to travel, we usually have all the canned goods ever needed in the coach pantry and just transfer over perishables and boxed items. Although we've never had a pest problem, we don't leave items that a rodent could get into like cereal or spaghetti. If we have guests staying for any period, we start the refer and use that for overflow. It also helps around the holidays when food is in abundance and storage isn't. Spring: coffee, sugar, creamer, case beer, case drinking water, 2 white, 2 red wines, bottle martini wine dry, bottle Beefeater, mustard, BBQ sauce. Stocks maintained at that level until decommissioning in the Winter. Clean linens, bottle of Dawn dish soap, tooth paste. (paper goods are kept current year around) Ready to go just bring clothing and needed food. | |||
