I have got the roof stripped of everything but the heat pumps. Helen & I are driving the Barth to Dependable RV Services, Inc in Madison Mississippi for our appointment on Monday January 2nd. They are one of only six authorized installers of the Flex Armor RV Roof System in the US. The Barth will finally be leak-free for the first time in twenty-three years. I will post pictures after we get her back.

Dropped of The Barth at Dependable RV Services in Madison MS today. Can't wait to get her back with a leak-proof roof!

BillyT,
So did you have problems with leaks or just being proactive?

Dana,
Our Sovereign has had a roof leak of one kind or another it's entire life. It's time to nip it in the bud, we are tired of messing with it. The Flex Armor roof is guaranteed for life. They are setting standoffs where i plan to mount aluminum or stainless sheets that will be home for solar panels and all of the communication antennas.

When we meet in May, I will look at yours, I need to do something also. My general roof condition is poor at best. I have a large tarp over it now as we have a major rain storm moving thru the area and it will be raining HARD for at least three days and then continuing on for another week or so.

Supposed to get 5-8 inches tonight and 10 feet of snow at the higher elevations.

Roof leaks are a constant with my SOB built in 1953. Affectionately called the Monster Trailer. I believe I have officially come to the end of life and have a new project in the works (Deer Camp).

The only roof leak on DBarth was when I removed the front Air and reattached. I didn't snug it down enough. Should have replaced the seal. It pooled water in the forward roof liner. I sucked it out and ventilated and everything dried and re-taunted the fabric. Have since replaced the Air with Atwood after seeing yours at Milford. We had 14 inches of rain in one shot here this summer and no issues on DBarth. Other issues from the rain but way off thread.

I chased roof leaks for 5+ years and finely stripped the roof of many years of all the previous coatings and after a lot of re-search found Gardner-Gibson Roof coatings (made in Tampa),sold @ Lowe's Quite Expensive, another one is made by Gaco Roof coatings. They are 100% Silicone, made for flat roofs that hold water, and have a 50 year warranty. I am very pleased with the job it did and it looks quite nice for a roof coating.

Good to know Richard. Steve VW took pictures of our finished roof and was supposed to post them somewhere on here for me.

In Tech Talk, under "BillyT's projects," here:

I only have the one shot of the antennas, the other roof ones got deleted somewhere in digital land.

I looked at doing flex armor but for $5,000, I decided to wait. We have an authorized shop close by that does it.

Billy we are 4 years later any update on how your roof redo is holding up? I know there are folks always battling with the leak demons on their roof. All of our roofs get older every day. Just like us!

I replaced the cracked skylight on the roof recently. I will power wash, recaulk with Dicor, and recoat the roof soon. No leaks yet but some of the old caulk was split. The roof is almost black with dirt and algae so it is time to recoat.

I have some Anvil to use but I am interested in other options and their advantages.

Steve your roof looks the same color as mine, except I have/had some leaks, fixed or semi fixed with Flexseal. So I will be waiting with a "worm on my tongue" aka "Bated breath" for your final report!!!

One of the best features of the Monarch series is the curved roof. Not only stronger with trusses but room inside for insulation and much better exterior drainage, no puddling.

I have had no leaks so far, except where the old skylight had cracked. Not much leaked in but enough to have condensation inside the skylight.
