Well, we just finished sealing the windshield with Tremco butyl sealant. After cleaning out the debis behind the windshield gasket, inch by inch, we pried out the gasket and squeezed the sealant in using a caulking gun. We had taped above and below the line between the rubber gasket and the aluminum cap. This is critical because you get the caulk all over the place. What a mess!! But we now have butyl behindthe gasket. Once the cap is painted, we'll run a nice smooth bead between the gasket and the cap. Butyl, like silicon is not paintable. Hopefully all this will insure a windshield that doesn't leak.
