We were coming back from a weekend trip in the Stagecoach to Cutty's RV Resort off of Hwy 50 west of Cotopaxi, CO. As I was passing the KOA Kampground east of Cotopaxi, I noticed a Barth in one of the spots near the highway. We were originally slated to stay at the same KOA this weekend but went to Cutty's since the KOA didn't have anymore 50 amp spots available. If we had accepted the 30 amp spot, the spot we were offered would have been within two spots of the Barth I saw. If time wasn't a factor, we would have turned around and dropped in to meet the fellow Barther's. It appeared to be a Regency with a similar paint scheme to the Stagecoach.
Anyone that plans on being in the area, I can certainly recommend either of the two campgrounds. The KOA is located on the Arkansas River and the 50 amp spots are along the river and further away from the highway. The river is the highest I've seen in years and the rafting companies must be in seventh heaven after several years of drought. The campground we stayed at (Cutty's) was the nicest we have been to so far, due to it's location although the Cotopaxi KOA is high on our list too. Cutty's is situated 3.5 miles south of Hwy 50 just west of Cotopaxi. It has a river running through it that is great if you're close to it. Sitting around the campfire with the river running close by (10' in some cases) was awesome. Our coach was the largest RV there and that, coupled with our last minute reservation, put us more in the center of the campgound near the entrance. Cutty's doesn't have 50 amp available but we didn't mind since the temperatures were lower than at the KOA where we felt there would be a need for 50 amp service. In many spots at Cutty's, there are so many trees there was no need for A/C at all so, 30 amp was plenty. They had indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and basketball court, game room, small movie theater, close by ATV and Jeep trails, Putt-Putt, the list goes on. KOA and Cutty's must be nice, there was a Barth located at eash one this weekend! Now I'd like to find out who was at the KOA. |

Hi, was this your first trip out this way? We've been in this spot for the past 9 summers. Our daughter and son-in-law own the campground so we spend summers helping (?) out, spending winters in BHC,Arizona as full timers in a 28' 1996 Barth. My wife liked the paint design on the anniversary model, so that's what we got. This was our retirement buy, intended for full-timing for just a couple of years, but we're now in about year 12 of this journey--who knew?
Hope to see you out here before the season is over. We do hope to get back to Illinois/Wisconsin to visit family, children, grandchildren sometime before we head back to BHC in October. Thanks for writing. Hal & Lee Sunken. |

Wow, you must be a long time Lurker to Barthmobile. Towerguy posted about your coach on the night of the 29th and you signed up and responded to him the morning of the 30th.
Welcome to the site, hope to hear more about your campground and why we should come and visit your place. Go ahead, include a few links/pictures and talk up your campground and local attractions. It's free advertising encouraged by the host of this site. Just make sure that the "Nickle Tour" of your Barth is included in said post |

Hi Hal and Lee (Cotopaxi Kids),
We would be coming back this weekend if it weren't for my oldest daughter being at Camp Elim (Woodland Park, CO) for the week. We've been visiting the Cotopaxi / Arkansas River KOA for several years but this was to be the first trip in the Stagecoach. We'll be there within the next two weeks if everything pans out. If not, we'll be there sometime in August. Anyone that will be in the area should call ahead (or go to the website) and reserve a spot at this KOA, especially if they would like to try white water rafting. Whatever level of excitement you want is available on the Arkansas River near the Cotopaxi KOA. One stretch is sooo exciting, they closed down the section through the Royal Gorge area because it was too dangerous. I guess 5,000+ CFPS is a bit too fast, even for experts. I've seen it pretty rapid at less than half the volume (2200 cubic feet per second). Prior to the Gorge there are several levels of white water rafting available for beginner to advanced and the Cotopaxi KOA is right in the middle of it. If you've got a guest that you'd rather not have under foot, this KOA even has a few rooms available in their "Hotel." We put my mom up there and it was great. We have been in spots on the river there twice and there is nothing quite like it. I take it your daughter or son-in-law told you where to find me, I emailed them after I posted here. Welcome to barthmobile.com! Just like the Cotopaxi KOA, there isn't anything quite like this site. Look around, it is a different kind of scenery but I know you'll enjoy it. |

Cotopaxi Kids, I just checked out your public profile and saw your coach is a 28' P32 chassis with a Chevy diesel. You mentioned it is a Regency style, I'm not very familiar with the newer Barth's such as Monarch, etc. Is yours by chance a Regal or did they still have that model for 1996? We have a member (Nick Cagle) that has put together a data tag spread sheet. You can see it at the Barth Portal under Community Announcements near the top of the page. Can you provide the numbers from your data tag? These numbers have been very helpful in figuring out some of the things Barth did back then. Since no two Barth's are alike, pictures and a floor plan are great if you have them. I'll be posting my floor plan soon, it is a bit different than most Regency's. Since this particular part of the forum is for Barth sightings, it might be more appropriate if you post the data info in the "Data Tag Project" location and pictures, if you want, in the "General Information" area. No pressure, I have yet to post pictures of our Stagecoach that I took. Pictures of our coach were taken by the previous owners. That will change soon, I promise. Again, welcome to the site!

Here we are sitting at the Cotopaxi/Arkansas River KOA in Colorado. The coach I spotted here back in June is still here, pictures later. The owner (Cotopaxi kids) says it is a 1996 Barth but does not have a model designation like Regency, Breakaway, etc. At that point they were built to suit. Same paint scheme as our Stagecoach, has anyone ever figured out what anniversary Barth was celebrating with this color scheme?

What does the data tag number say? |

I didn't get any closer than walking by his Barth but I did ask him to post his data tag for the project Nick has been working on. I'll email the campground and request he make another visit to the site. We didn't have an opportunity to talk very much since he is there helping run the KOA and we were only there one night.
