The surprise hit of last year's Britain's Got Talent was Susan Boyle.
This year, Janey Cutler, 80, old enough to be SuBo's mother, doing an Edith Piaf standard (no, NOT La Vie en Rose!). And in '07 was the unlikely Paul Potts Rusty '94 28' Breakaway MilSpec AMG 6.5L TD 230HP Two not-spoiled Golden Retrievers (Casey and Nelson) Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we're not. Boyle's "Cry Me a River" will make you forget Julie London's version. And her "Memory" (from Cats) will send Betty Buckley's original cast rendition to the background. And there's "Wild Horses".
She's one of the few singers that can conquer about any genré effortlessly - only a few not-so-well-known come to mind: Goldie Hawn, and here (betcha didn't know she had pipes!), Anna Maria Alberghetti, Beverly Sills, Kiri te Kanawha (who the heck is SHE?)... I have a set of surprisingly good tiny studio speakers we can listen to at the GTG...
