Bob, the square socket is to remove the lug nuts/studs from the inner wheel after the outer wheel has been removed.

rear tires:
here is an image, at the 2 O'clock position, of an inner square drive nut. First you remove the outer nut - then the outer tire - then the inner nut - then the inner tire. Each tire is held on by its own mounting nut. http://barthmobile.com/eve/for...771083813#1771083813 Please get part numbers and item mfg with prices. Have Connie take some pics. |

There is a combination socket for Budd wheels (it looks like you have 'em). It isn't cheap, however.

Here's a quick stupid question regarding GM P30 coaches. Do we have to deal with this situation if we ever have to remove our duals?

well i purchased the budd socket ((1 1/2 in with a 13/16 center square)) tested it for a fit and seemed alittle loose then tried a 1 7/16 socket and that was to small am thinking metric , probally a 38mm,,,,wonder if that will change the 13/16 square nut ?

Just curious, do any of you know what your wheels are supposed to be torqued to? Is it the same for all Barths or does it vary any?

I don't know on the P30 Danny. Do you see anything that looks like a square head on the inside of the stud? You can easily see that without removing the outer tire. Instead of a circular stud with threads going to the end, it'll look like a square bolt head. On my Gasoline Powered Ford with the Oshkosh/John Deere chassis I have that same Budd style inner and outer nuts too. |

The P-30 only uses the typical Lug. No special tools required

Each chassis model calls for a different torque, mine depending on the lug size. The 84 P30, for example, calls for either 110-140 lb ft (for 9/16" lugs) pr 130-180 lbs ft for 5/8" lugs) My 19.5 wheels call for 130-180 lbs ft. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered |
